Tencent’s AI Game Boost: Profit Win or Player Loss?

Last night, I got wrecked by bots in a mobile shooter. They dodged my shots like pros. Felt unreal. Now Tencent says AI helped their profits soar. Makes me wonder – is this tech making games smarter or just richer?

Honest talk: when big firms chase AI wins, we players sweat. Will bots get too mean? Will ads feel more personal and pushy? Tencent’s cash surge sounds good for them. But my gut says “show me the fun.” Remember when games just sold you the full deal? Now every update hints at spending. AI could deepen that itch.

When I play Tencent’s PUBG Mobile, bots sometimes act dumb on purpose. Lets new players feel strong. Smart move! But what if “smarter” AI means craftier tricks to open wallets? Like bosses you can’t beat without buying gear. I’ve rage-quit games that pulled that stunt. Feels bad, man.

Back in my PS2 days, AI was basic. Enemies just rushed you. Now they flank, hide, learn. That’s cool! But here’s my worry: will Tencent’s AI focus make games feel like casinos? Loot boxes that “adapt” to your cravings? Ads that know your weak spots? I miss when difficulty meant skill checks, not pay walls.

So here’s my plea to devs: use AI to amaze us. Make NPCs remember our choices. Create worlds that shift with our playstyle. Don’t just tweak ads to suck coins faster. Profit’s fine, but respect the grind. Give us stories that stick, not shops that nag. Can we trust tech giants to pick players over pennies? I’m hopeful but watching close.
