Old COD Hacks Show Why We Need Server Love

Man, hearing about COD: WW2 PC getting hacked? It gave me chills. Some dude just chilling in a match, then BAM – hacker takes over his whole PC. Changes his wallpaper to… yeah, *that* stuff. Seriously messed up. When I boot up an older game, I just wanna shoot stuff, not fight off digital invaders. What gives?

Turns out, this happens ’cause older games lose their real servers. They switch to peer-to-peer. That means some player hosts the match on *their* own machine. It saves the big companies cash, but it opens a nasty door. Hackers can sneak right into your PC through that connection. It’s like leaving your front door wide open in a bad neighborhood. Remember when servers just… worked?

I avoid older COD games on PC now. It’s an open secret they’re hacker playgrounds. I tried Black Ops 2 last year. Got killed by some dude flying. Flying! Then my game crashed. Total waste of time. That grind for levels? Worthless when some noob with hacks ruins it. Why bother if the game’s a security risk?

Back in the day, playing Halo 3 felt safe. Solid servers, maybe some lag, but no one hijacked your Xbox. Now? Old games feel like abandoned forts. Easy targets. Companies move on to the next shiny thing, leaving us players in the dust. That $60 we paid years ago? Seems like they forgot it fast. Doesn’t feel right.

I get it. Running servers costs money. But come on! Taking down WW2 for “maintenance” after this blows up? Feels like shutting the barn door after the horse bolted. We deserve better. Maybe patch the holes *before* hackers wreck the fun? Or at least warn us? Hope they fix this proper. Old games deserve love too, not just the new hotness.
